Cullen Wines, while remaining family owned, have continued to evolve, making quality wine from biodynamically grown grapes sourced exclusively from The Cullen Estate Vineyard and Mangan Vineyard. The philosophy of Cullen Wines is to search for the best quality expression of the vineyard in the wine.
Cullen Mangan 2008 is a blend of Merlot, Petit Verdot and Malbec. It sees 76 percent new oak and barely shows a smidge of it. Quality fruit.
Bright ruby. Sexy aromas of crushed raspberry, cherry, wood smoke and rose, with a touch of mint coming up with aeration. Densely packed but penetrating, with a firm spine of acidity adding energy to the wine’s sweet red fruit flavours. Nicely pliant and expressive, with lovely finishing perfume and vivacity.
REVIEWS & AWARDS
“From one of Margaret River’s most esteemed makers, this blend of Merlot, Petit Verdot and Malbec is a stunner. Credit goes to a new berry-sorting machine that results in softer tannins. Complex, with a long rich palate, good weight and persistent flavour. Try with coq au vin.” – Jeff Collerson – Best Weekend, Daily Telegraph July 2010
