The philosophy at Cullen Wines is to search for the best quality expression of the vineyard in the wine. The maritime climate, rocky soils, dry farming and biodynamic practices all help to create individual and diverse wine styles which are unique to Cullen.
The maritime climate of Margaret River allows a near perfect environment in which to grow the finest quality grapes.
The rocky soils produce low yielding intensely flavoured grapes and the flavour of these grapes is what creates the fabric for the wine style at Cullen.
Cullen have been very successful in meeting their aim of producing a wine which, while fruit driven, is of such high quality that it will develop for several years under good cellaring conditions. This wine was made from a carefully selected blend of Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot grown on the Mangan Vineyard, which has been shown to be ideally suited to nurturing these grape varieties. Three grape varieties all performed very well in this vintage and thus facilitated the production of this particularly flavoursome and complex wine. Another very good growing season with no rain at all in January and February.
This delicious biodynamic wine, which will develop nicely for a good 10 years, comprises of a sumptuous and fruit forward combination of 55% Merlot 29% Malbec & 16% Petit Verdot all of which express the site on which the grapes are grown.
