Quandong Farm is located north of McLaren Vale in the celebrated ‘Seaview Road’ sub-region. Shallow loam soil over limestone produces small yields of highly flavoured fruit. This vineyard has been the test-bed for the Paxton biodynamic programme that focuses on soil health, biodiversity and non-chemical weed control. Bee hives on this property contribute to diversity, aid pollination and maximise seed production of inter-row pastures. Natural compost preparations enliven the soils and are the basis for healthy grapevine growth.
Lifted fragrance, attractive plum fruit with spices and truffles
Even, smooth, balanced, bright plum and earthy fruit. Round, mouth-filling texture with a good back palate.
REVIEWS & AWARDS
“The Quandong Farm Shiraz comes from the first vineyard that was converted to biodynamic viticulture. It’s made in open top fermenters and put mainly into old oak barrels for ageing, it is bottled without fining or filtering. An extremely well balanced magnificent wine which will drink at it’s best for at least a decade.
