Henri Bourgeois was a multi-crop farmer who started cultivating vines about 50 years ago. The estate now owns over 70 hectares of vineyards over 120 parcels. The large number of parcels and their locations means that the family can create a multitude of wines. Each of these wines expressing the unique qualities of its terroir. The estate has a philosophy of wanting to preserve the environment as the wines are cultivated. The vignerons practices organic farming techniques and seeks to minimise soil erosion. Besides their estates in Sancerre, France the family have on their quest for the perfect wine also established vineyards in Marlborough, New Zealand.
This wine has a light salmon-pink colour. It has aromas of red fruits, in particular summer red berries. Henri Bourgeois, Sancerre Rose Les Baronnes is 100% Pinot Noir. To taste, the wine has a well-balanced structure and acidity. There are hints of citrus fruit and leafy fresh herbs. It is a wonderful fresh crisp wine that is very easy to drink and is best served well chilled but not too cold. Recommended servings are with Thai cuisine or chicken dishes.
