Winemaker Sandro Mosele has crafted a reputation for some of the finest representations of Australian Pinot and Chardonnay. The vineyard is split into five individual parcels with a variety of clones planted on some very different soils, and everything is done to enhance and express the natural characteristics of each parcel. The 2005 vintage was characterised by a mild summer with a beautiful warm autumn. Whole bunch pressed and barrel fermented naturally without inoculation. Matured for 12 months in French oak (30% new). Vine Age 9 years at time of harvest.
Complex mineral and floral aromas, elegant yet rich palate with creamy lemon and stone fruit flavours supported by integrated oak. Compared to Farrago, this shows the intricacy of a top Chassagne-Montrachet instead of the bracing minerality of Chablis Grand Cru.
REVIEWS & AWARDS
“Splash Out White: A wonderful New World Chardonnay with an extreme, Old World sensibility. The nose has delightful granitic structure; such finesse is repeated on the palate with a mineral core cloaked in ripe but cool citrus fruit, and oh-so-delicate oak. Spectacular.” – Decanter Magazine April 2008
