From Laibach estate, The Ladybird is made from certified organically grown grapes. The grapes for this wine are grown on about 18ha of certified organic vineyards on the North West slopes of the Simonsberg. Laibach were the first producer to have certified organic vineyards in Stellenbosch, and the 2011 is the tenth Ladybird red to be produced. It’s a great example of how good an organic wine can be. It is handled throughout the production with minimal intervention, combining the true identity of the 5 varietals it represents. It is Merlot dominated with a big chunk of Cabernet Franc well supported with Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Petite Verdot.
Pure black fruit with plenty of spice supported with some lovely soft supple tannins. An explosion of fruit, on a medium bodied palate with good complexity and length.
