Grenache Blanc is often blended with Roussanne, but is also popular variety in its own right, especially in the Rhône. The grape is native to northeast Spain, and is now also planted throughout the French and Spanish Mediterranean basin on either side of the Pyrenees. Despite the vine’s prevalence being almost the same in the two countries, Grenache Blanc is France’s third most important white variety but only Spain’s ninth.
