Caiarossa is an estate situated in the Cecina river valley (Val de Cecina) Tuscany, Italy. The estate has a philosophy to embrace passion, and to combine it with a dedication to wine making. Wines are produced with a holistic vision, one where man is part of the Earth and its ecosystem. Biodynamics in both its esoteric and practical applications is very much at the heart of Caiarossa’s wine production. No synthetic chemicals are used in the vineyards and harvesting is in tune with planetary and lunar cycles. Here at The Grape Store we are happy to to feature four of their fabulous wines. The Estates Vineyards
The Estate totals 70 hectares; half of the estate is populated with various varieties of Oak the other with vineyards and olive groves. It is situated in rolling hills in an environment that can be classified as Mediterranean Brush. The estate benefits from cooling sea breezes off the Tyrrhenian Sea and is protected from cold northerly winds. Many varieties of red and white grapes are grown over three distinct regions. These are Podere Serra All’olio, Podere Le Lame and Podere Nocolino. The maps featured below illustrate the three regions and the types of grapes grown in each. The numerous varietals allow the estate to create unique and individual blends
Cellars and Winery
Central to the winery is an architectural experiment, the estates winery and cellars. The building has been constructed with geodynamics and Feng Shui adopted as key design factors. Its exterior is red, an expression of passion and the terroir. The cellars interior is painted yellow, to enhance natural luminosity and central to the design is a system to discharge electrostatic forces. The cellar is four stories tall; this allows the force of gravity to be central to the fermentation process. This removes any risk of mechanical pumping processes damaging the grapes.
The Grape Store is only one of four approved UK distributors for Caiarossa wines. The wines currently featured are Caiarossa, Caiarossa Bianco, Aria Di Caiarossa and Caiarossa Pergolaia. Each has been chosen for its distinctive character and unique quality. On each of the product pages you will be able to read more about the estate, region, terroir and philosophy.
A wine that fully embellishes a philosophy of passion; dedication and commitment to quality: in wine making. It is a tapestry of seven different grapes: Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Sangiovese, Petit Verdot and Alicante.
A blend of four varieties of grape, a wine with a crispness and impeccable balance, a blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Mostly Sangiovese with small amounts of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, The Pergolaia is a wine with real depth and character.,/p>
Caiarossa Bianco is a 50/50 blend of Viognier and Chardonnay. A crisp, well balanced white wine.
