Category: 13% ABV, Chateau Les Ollieux, Corbieres, France, Grenache Noir, Marsanne, Organic, Roussanne
The Chateau Ollieux-Romanis is a magnificent property, surrounded by old vines and olive trees or ‘Ollieux’. The same family has owned it since 1860, and the oldest Carignan vines were planted in 1896. Wine is an important part of the family history. Jacqueline Bories was probably the first women to vinify wine in the Languedoc at a time when wine was a man’s affair, and the winery has gained a reputation in recent years for producing high quality organic wine.
TASTING NOTES
This white Corbieres is a brilliantly well balanced blend of Roussanne and Marsanne. The aromatic structure is complex with notes of exotic fruit, white flowers and ripe banana. Full bodied on the palate, the finish is refreshing… A delicious, fresh, Mediterranean white wine to accompany fish and poultry.
REVIEWS & AWARDS
“The Cuvee Classique Blanc is a mixture of Rousanne and Marsanne from yields of no more than 40hl/ha. Vinification is in tank with an upbringing in oak involving a period on the lees with regular battonage. This yields intriguing flavours of orange blossom and exotic fruits, such as ripe banana, pineapple, lychee and papaya.”
