Gilbert Geoffroy

Domaine de Laulan, Cotes de Duras Sauvignon Blanc 2020

This superb Sauvignon is made by the charismatic Gilbert Geoffroy in the town of Duras between Monbazillac and Bergerac. Originally hailing from Chablis, Geoffroy founded the 30-hectare estate in 1974 and is generally acknowledged as one of the driving forces behind the appellation. Little surprise then that he is known locally as ‘the Pope of Sauvignon’ and that his wines are among the leading in the south west of France. This delicious white bears all the hallmarks of the domaine: full, peachy flavours preceding a fruity, refreshing finish.

TASTING NOTES
Pale yellow in colour, the aromas are of gooseberries and elderflower with a grassy edge. Very fresh on the palate with primary flavours of pineapple and passion fruit. The finish is light and fresh. This makes for refreshing, uncomplicated drinking. Try with fish cakes, seafood ravioli or a cheese tart.

REVIEWS & AWARDS
“This is a really pleasing Sauvignon Blanc that walks the line between the minerally Loire style and the richer New World examples. Made by the charismatic Gilbert Geoffroy.
