Adjacent to the Biondi Santi property, the Pian Dell’Orino estate is at the heart of an area well known for its suitability for growing grapes of an extremely high quality, and the wines they produce are exemplary of this. In their own words, “Our love for Tuscany and passion for viticulture binds us particularly to this land, our vines and the resulting wines”.
The team are stringent followers of organic viticulture, and their respect for the land and grapes shines through in their wines. They spend a lot of time and energy trying to improve their understanding of the vineyards in order to maximise the potential of their grapes, and this shows in this Rosso Di Montalcino.
The Rosso Di Montalcino is made from 100% Sangiovese grapes, which are individually checked on the vine during the growing season, and again checked following harvesting to ensure only the best make it through to the fermentation stage. During fermentation, the temperature is automatically capped at 30 degrees to ensure quality is maintained.
TASTING NOTES
Crisp hawthorn aromas, followed by rounder but still firm red cherry and raspberry flavours that coat rather than strangle your tongue for a richly digestible mouthful. Sublime balance and silky tannins combine and lead to a long lingering and very fine finish.
