Fermented in stainless steel, this is a varietal Frappato. Pale colour. Beautifully perfumed with fresh cherry fruit and herbs. The palate is sappy and elegant with bright fruit and lovely acidity. Frappato is a Sicilian grape variety, most commonly used in the blend for Cerasuolo di Vittoria.
TASTING NOTES
This has dramatic fragrance of morello and dried cherry billowing from the glass along with raspberry crush, sweet herbs and spiced orange. Light-bodied, but fleshy and incredibly juicy and perky, it is a refreshing style of red wine that should be drunk just below room temperature for the best effect.
REVIEWS & AWARDS
“I’ll admit it: This has become my go-to red in Italian restaurants (and a lot of other restaurants where it appears on the list). If you want a red for fish, it’s hard to beat. The bright flavours of raspberry are light and transparent, with a frisky, orange-zest acidity that brings a sense of minerality into the fragrance of the wine. There’s no oak to get in the way, no yeast inoculation to rationalize its charm (half the wine ages in cement, half in amphorae). Buy it by the case, or get your favourite sommelier to do it for you.” – 91/100 – Wine and Spirits Magazine
