The Mas de Libian is quite a remarkable winery, having been owned by the same family for a few generations. Since 1670 it has been producing remarkable wines that are recognised worldwide. Recently, Helene Thibon took over the leadership at the winery. Her goal was to develop the estate. Under her wise control Mas de Libian started to estate bottle their wines rather then selling them to local wineries. Helene Thibon is a young winemaker. She employs biodynamic and organic methods of farming, everything she does is with a view towards preserving her vineyards, which are the family’s heritage.
Even if you don’t play petanque, you’ll love this natural wine. It’s like drinking freshly fermented grape juice: frothy and packed with quaffable Syrah (25%)and Grenache (75%) fruit. Dark ruby in colour, brambly and soft, this tastes great chilled.
TASTING NOTES
Beautiful garnet colour. A greedy nose with aromas of blackberries and blueberries gently spicy. The palate is warm and easily digested with notes of olives that recalls its origins Rhodanienne. An organic wine well paired with BBQ, red meats and game.
