Bindi is one of the best and most important vineyards in Victoria. Found just south of the town of Gisborne, it is planted to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay on a variety of sites, soils and aspects. With increasing vine age now providing more underlying richness and complexity, its low-cropped wines are entering a new phase of excellence, there is no denying that for such a relatively cool site, it is regularly achieving in its fruit a rare combination of richness, intensity and focus.
Fresh nose with mineral, citrus and toast notes. The palate is intense, fresh, taut and mineral with appealing citrus fruit. This is so bold, mineral and fresh. It’s profound. 95/100 (04/10) Wine Anorak.
Light yellow. Ripe melon and white peach aromas are enlivened by notes of talc and dried lemon peel. Rich and fleshy but surprisingly lively, offering broad melon and orchard fruit flavours and a late note of bitter peach skin.
REVIEWS & AWARDS
“The 2008 Bindi Composition Chardonnay is in beautiful shape. It’s creamy, toasty, complex and matchsticky. It displays exceptional brightness and fruit power through the mouth and a convincing strut of juicy, generous, mineral-shot length. There are some bright peach notes here too, whispers of smoky/toasty oak, and an overall sense of vitality to the flavours. Pour this into your mouth and be immediately impressed. 94/100.” Campbell Mattinson – The Winefront, 2009
