Dry land farmed at 550-600 metres above sea level; low yielding vines, all natural fermentation and no acidification combine to create a top class organic Pinot.
The winemaker Gottfried Mocke is a big Burgundy fan and that shows in this seductive example, which has excellent fruit purity. Certainly not just an imitation it has its own sense of style, which reflects its own terroir.
Fruit-driven but far from simple, there are black cherry and strawberry notes, which combine with a hint of cinnamon spice. Exceptional poise and balance, fine tannins and satisfying length.
REVIEWS & AWARDS
“Ripe but elegant fresh cherry fruit nose, which is subtly spicy and sappy. The palate shows rich cherry and berry fruit with notes of herbs, iodine and spice. A rich but elegant style.” – 93/100 – wineanorak.com
