Along with Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc is arguably the most famous variety of white wine grape. Historically, this grape originates from France’s Bordeaux region but is now cultivated in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, California, South America and throughout the rest of France. Its name derives from the French word for wild (sauvage), which refers to its indigenous behaviour prior to it being cultivated. The crisp, dry and refreshing taste of Sauvignon Blanc wines makes them very easy and enjoyable to drink.
