Category: 13.5% ABV, Carignan, Chateau Ollieux Romanis, Corbieres, France, Grenache Noir, Mourvedre, Organic, Syrah
A family owned vineyard for several generations, Chateau Ollieux Romanis is in Montseret (renowned for its honey flavoured with thyme, rosemary and lavender), it’s situated in the heart of the much heralded cru of the Corbieres-Boutenac region.
Atal Sia is a blend of mainly Carignan with Grenache, Mourvedre and a dash of Syrah.
The Carignan comes from low yielding vines, some of which are more than 100 years old. It is the grapes from these vines that give this organic wine a purity of fruit that is simply outstanding.
TASTING NOTES
A deep and intense wine with black fruits, orange peel, spice and liquorice and a smooth, silky, almost sweet palate. No oak ageing, but the intensity and purity of fruit will ensure that this wine will age gracefully in bottle for the next 7-10 years.
REVIEWS & AWARDS
Atal Sia {translates to ‘Let it be’ from the local Occitan dialect} describes the essence of the preferred grape variety of the domaine, Carignan and its journey from grape to glass. Old vines, low yields, no oak ageing and minimal intervention.
Selected old parcels of old-vine Carignan, Grenache & Mourvedre with a dash of Syrah. No oak, but creamy and profound. Lovely fruit density, smooth on the palate a mineral note adding freshness and tension. Delicious.
