Chateau Penin

Chateau Penin “Grande Selection Merlot” Bordeaux Superieur 2018

Chateau Penin is situated on very localised gravel soils, between the limestone plateau and the marshland on the left bank of the Dordogne river facing Saint Emilion. Only vines can grow on such very poor soil. These conditions enable very concentrated and perfectly ripe grapes to be produced here.

Patrick Carteyron is a talented, hard-working vigneron who has always been ahead of the game. A trained oenologist, he took over the rundown, 12ha family domaine in 1982 and has turned Penin into a 40ha going concern of the highest quality.

TASTING NOTES
A harmonious, fleshy wine, with vanilla aromas coming from the oak, mingling well with jammy red berry fruit notes. The overall impression is complex, fine, mellow and full of charm.

The quality of the fruit and balance of acidity and fine tannins not only makes this eternally drinkable but gives it some decent ageing potential over the next decade at least.

REVIEWS & AWARDS
Harmonious wine with a touch of complexity. Spice, mint and red fruit notes on the nose. Attractive fruit on the palate, fine tannins and an aromatic finish.
