Cornet & Cie White has been carefully selected from Abbe Rous' best Collioure vineyard for its pure and intense aromatic expression.
TERROIR
The Collioure vineyard is located in Roussillon in the far South of France, where the Pyrenees meet the Mediterranean sea. Vines grow on arid steep schist terraces overlooking the sea.
GRAPE VARIETIES
Grenache gris 60% - Grenache blanc 20% - Vermentino 17% - Roussanne 3%
WINEMAKING
Yield: 35 hl/ha. Grapes are hand harvested in small buckets. Second selection in the cellar. Settling in a cold room at 0°C for 24 h. Pressing of the whole grapes for the grenache gris. 20% of the grapes are fermented in 600 litres new barrels and aged for 4 months on fine lees.
TASTING NOTES
Aging potential: 4-6 years. The 2019 Collioure Blanc Cornet & Cie smells like the scorched schist hillsides of the region – an almost oily-smoky essence that seems to emanate from the rocks themselves. A bit of citrus and green apple keeps this medium bodied white crisp and refreshing and it finishes long and penetrating.
