Originally from Belgium, Leon Verhaeghe left his homeland in the early twentieth century and settled in the Lot. In 1958 his son Charles Verhaeghe and Charles’s wife Marie-Therese established a mixed farm with vineyards, planting a hectare of vines each year across three parcels. Now their sons Pascal and Jean-Marc Verhaeghe produce excellent Malbec from these established vineyards.
TASTING NOTES
An inky spicy red organic wine endowed with red and black fruits and smoked fig and liquorice flavours.
REVIEWS & AWARDS
“Lovely dark violet colour. A very expressive nose combines red and black fruit, violet and spices. Superbly balanced on the palate, fresh and velvety with an exceptional tannin structure, you can really taste the grape. Beautiful, fruity length on the finish.” – Winery note
