Aria Di Caiarossa is a wine characterised by its crispness and impeccable balance. The wines taste is characterised by its balsamic aromas, black cherry, plum and spice flavours and the fine grained tannins have a sublime velvety texture on the tongue derived by malolactic fermentation. Aria Di Caiarossa is a carefully selected blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine is aged, for 14 months in new, second and third stage tonneaux and barriques using about 15% new wood, then once blended it is matured for a further 6 further months before bottling.
The estate in total is 175 acres (70 hectares). Half of the estate is woodland, populated with Oak, Cork Oak and Holm Oak. The estate is situated on rolling hills with the ocean in clear view. The soil on the estate is varied. At lower altitudes it is varied and calcareous at higher altitudes the soil expresses sandstone and is rich in Iron. The soil is the product of sedimentation and volcanic activity over billions of year; this sitting on top of the deep layers of calcified fossil fragments.
At the centre of the estate is a holistic vision, the earth does not belong to mankind, mankind belongs to the Earth. Biodynamics was founded by Rudolf Steiner, the founder of anthroposophy, in 1924 and is about the harmonious bond between nature, man and all the living things in the universe. Biodynamics is very much at the centre of the estates philosophy.
Estate owner Eric Albada Jelgersm and manager Alexander Van Beek also have the Chateau du Tertre and Chateau Giscours in Bordeaux, France.
