Category: 12.5% ABV, France, Grenache Noir, Mourgues Du Gres, Mourvedre, Organic, Rhone - Costieres de Nimes, Syrah
Chateau Mourgues du Gres is owned by former journalist Francois Collard and is to be found at Beaucare in the appellation of the Costieres de Nimes on the border of Languedoc and Provence. There are 40 hectares of vines in total producing arguably the best organic wines in the region. This particular rose is a full bodied combination of Syrah and Grenache and can be drunk all year round but is particularly good as a summer aperitif or with weightier seafood dishes.
TASTING NOTES
Dark pink in colour. Aromas of strawberries and cream with a touch of mint. Dry, fruity and crisp on the palate. Juicy flavours of red fruits and cherries come through with a good burst of acidity and a fresh finish.
REVIEWS & AWARDS
“The Saignee rose punches well above its weight and even the whites, so often a flabby irrelevance in southern France, are taut in structure and rich in fruit, especially the Terre Argence.”
