Category: 12.5% ABV, Chardonnay, Domaine Bruno Lupin, France, Organic, Rhone Valley, Roussette
Use of the much-prized ‘Roussette de Savoie’ AC is reserved for dry white wines made from the Altesse variety {locally called Rousette}, produced solely by vineyards in the Savoie region that adhere to stringent regulations and high standards. The cru produced by Domaine Bruno Lupin is considered to be one of the best the region has to offer.
The vineyards which produce the grapes used in production of the Domaine Bruno Lupin Roussette De Savoie Cru Frangy are perfectly suited being south facing and benefiting from limestone and glacial sedimentary soils. Frangy is named after the village in which it is made, and is mostly Roussette with a little Chardonnay and Mondeuse Blanc thrown in.
Lupin’s Rousette has recently harvested a Gold Medal at Paris Concours general agricole as well as Coup de Coeur La Revue des Vins de France for best Roussette.
TASTING NOTES
The Frangy boasts a strong perfumed nose with delightful hints of honey, gingerbread, spice and pear with a touch of nougat. Dry on the palate with hints of apple and stone fruit, it’s simply exquisite!
